"unofficial" record of 457 points. Finishing a distant second
was Giannini with 234.5 points. While Marina rounded out the top

LAWTON GIRLS TAKE VOLLEYBALL TITLE
The Lawton Girls Volleyball team completed an undefeated season
with a come from behind 2-1 victory over Presidio. The Panthers
took the first set 25-23, however the Lions battled back to take set
two 25-12 and then finished off the match with a 15-12 nail-biting
third set. The traditional Flo Hyman awards were also presented with
Jennifer Truong of Lawton and Jan van Hasselt of Presidio the honored
recipients. |

LICK AND MANN SHARE SOCCER
TITLE
Two years ago Horace Mann took the Middle School Soccer title.
Last year James Lick finished on top. So I guess this year it's
only fitting that they share the crown. Battling through two 30
minute halves and two 10 minute overtime periods, both teams could
only muster one goal a piece to finish in a draw under stormy skies at
Burton HS. Congratulations to both teams on their
co-championship season! |
|
PANTHERS HOOPS CHAMPS
Presidio came from behind in the last minute to down the Aptos
Tigers 29-26 and bring home the AAA Middle School Boys Basketball
title to their Richmond District campus. Both teams fought hard
and showed exemplary sportsmanship throughout the contest.
Congratulations to the Panthers and coach Vince Wong as they complete
an undefeated season on top! |

FONG YU WINS FIRST TITLE
Alice Fong Yu downed Presidio 35-20 to take the 2007-08 Girls
Basketball championship. The Red Dragons avenged a loss to the
Panthers in last year's final and finished off an undefeated season.
Congratulations to coach Allen Hom and the entire Fong Yu squad on the
school's first ever AAA Middle School sports league title! |
JAGUARS TOPS IN BASEBALL
On a beautiful Sunset District day, A. P. Giannini tamed the
Wolves of Claire Lilienthal 6-2, bringing the Middle School Baseball
title and trophy to the home of the Jaguars. Nick Tam went the
distance on the hill for the victors, helping earn Giannini it's 13th
title and 11th in the last 15 years. Congratulations to both
schools on a well played and exciting game and successful seasons
overall! |

PRESIDIO TAKES SOFTBALL TITLE
In an exciting Softball final, Presidio held on to defeat
defending champion Giannini 5-4 for the title. The Panthers
entered the final inning with a 5-0 lead, however the Jaguars battled
back to score four runs and left the tying runner on third as the
final out was made. Congratulations to Presidio on their
championship season and to Giannini for giving it their all to the
end! |
CPR REGULATIONS
A notice to ALL Middle School coaches, CPR regulations have
changed! A child is now considered anyone 12 years of age or
younger. Since many middle school students are within this age
range, ALL Middle School coaches MUST take both adult AND child CPR when
renewing or obtaining certification for the first time. Please take
note of this when signing up for your next course.
COACHING YOUTH COURSE OFFERED BY ASEP
Check out this link to information on a new on-line course on
coaching at the youth level
(ages 6-13) available through ASEP. It gives some very helpful
information on dealing with athletes in this age group. ASEP is a
required course for high school coaches and this youth course would be a
great precursor for those youth coaches with higher aspirations.
