Youth Leadership Council (YLC) (25/26)

Bay Area Host Committee is excited to share a unique opportunity for youth ages 15–17 living in the Bay Area: the Centre for Sport and Human Rights in partnership with UNICEF USA, are looking for outstanding youth leaders to be a part of the 2026 Youth Leadership Council (YLC).
 
YLC members will:
 
  • Advocate for change at the intersection of sport and human rights
  • Connect with peers across the U.S., Mexico, and Canada
  • Meet with city leaders, host a community event, and contribute to a report shared with event organizers
  • Receive a $500 stipend and leadership development opportunities

To nominate a youth in your community, email by June 15 with:
  • Their name and age
  • A brief paragraph explaining why they would be a strong fit to represent the Bay Area
Youth who align with the goals of the program will be sent the full application, which will be due by June 30.

CIF Spirit of Sport Award (Spring 24/25)

This award seeks to recognize one male and one female student-athlete, during each season of sport (Fall/Winter/Spring), who display good sportsmanship and school leadership, regardless of athletic ability. The CIF wants to acknowledge student-athletes who are positive role models within our schools and the community at-large. Integrity, fairness, character, and respect are inherent principles of good sportsmanship. With them, the spirit of competition thrives, fueled by honest rivalry, courteous relations, and graceful acceptance of the results.

Each CIF member school is allowed one male and one female senior athlete for each season of sport.

Spring Sports
Badminton, Baseball, Boys Golf, Softball, Swimming & Diving, Boys Tennis, Track & Field, Boys Volleyball
Other (sport played during non-traditional CIF State season)

At your earliest convenience, please pass along to your respective member schools, so that they can have their deserving student-athletes apply.
 
Deadline is February 18th.

Application Procedures & Process Overview:​

All applications must be fully complete before submission. You are able to exit an incomplete application, and finish at a later date by signing into your Kaleidoscope account.

Application must include:
  • Parent Information, School Information, Principal Information and Signature Page, Completion of the Student Essay (Max. 350 words)
  • Complete List of Activities and Participation in the Following Categories:
  1. Athletics
  2. Non-Athletic Activities & Extracurriculars
  3. Leadership Positions
  4. Community Service

Qualifications
  • Residence: California
  • Grade Level: H.S. Senior
Scholarship Awards – Scholarship recipients will be selected based on demonstrated principles of good sportsmanship, school and community service, and leadership. Review of applications will be conducted by committees selected by the CIF. Award recipients will be notified by a telephone call and/or e-mail.

  • Two State winners (1 male and 1 female) in each traditional season of sport (Fall, Winter, Spring), for six total winners, will each receive a patch, award, and scholarship. State recipients are required to attend the Federated Council event  at the Oakland Marriott City Center on Friday, April 4, 2025.
Additionally, one male and one female student-athlete representing each of the 10 CIF Sections, from each season of sport (Fall/Winter/Spring), (60 total) will be selected and awarded a scholarship.

CIF State Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award (24/25)

The 2024-25 CIF State Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award, presented by Sutter Health, recognizes college-bound high school seniors whose academic and athletic careers have been truly exemplary and whose personal standards (i.e., integrity, honesty, etc.) and accomplishments are a positive model for others.

Two State winners (1 male and 1 female) will each receive a $10,000 scholarship.

Requirements:


  • SAT or ACT score required
  • Residence: California
  • Grade Level: H.S. Senior
  • Minimum of two (2) years of athletic participation at the Varsity level
Selection Process:

College-bound high school seniors whose academic and athletic careers have been truly exemplary and whose personal standards (i.e., integrity, honesty, etc.) and accomplishments are a positive model for others.
  • Possess no less than an unweighted cumulative (grades 9-12) grade point average of 3.70;
  • SAT or ACT score required
  • Have demonstrated athletic ability in at least two years of varsity play within California (must have participated in athletics as a senior); and
  • Portrayed themselves as athletes of character displaying the Six Pillars of Character: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.

Willie Mays Scholars Application (24/25)

2025 Application Timeline
  • February 1: Application opens
  • February 27 at 11:59 PM: Application closes 
  • April 30: Applicants notified of decisions 

Who can apply? Students who:
  • Identify as Black or African American
  • Live in San Francisco
  • Are currently in 9th grade
  • Had a minimum 2.0 GPA in the first semester of their 9th grade year

What do they receive?
Each Scholar will benefit from:
  • Weekly programming through the Giants Community Fund, Alive & Free and 100% College Prep
  • Support throughout high school and college
  • A college scholarship of up to $20,000!​

David Rawson Memorial Scholarship Award (Spring 24/25)

Each year, The Olympic Club Foundation selects, from a San Francisco public high school, one 12th grade golf team member from the boys golf team and one 12th grade member of the girls golf team. In order to receive this award these student athletes should demonstrate a commitment to the sport of golf, maintain good academic standing, display outstanding leadership skills, and have community service involvement and or experience.

Eligibility requirements:
  • Interest and involvement in the sport of golf
  • A proven history of community service and exceptional leadership skills
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5
  • A senior at a San Francisco public school who will be enrolled in a 2-year or​ 4-year college in 2025-26
  • Demonstrated financial need
The David Rawson Memorial Scholarship Award includes $5,000 in college scholarship funds for the student upon enrollment in a 2-year or 4-year college and $1,000 to his/her nominating high school. An event will be held at The Olympic Club each year at which the recipient will be recognized.

Deadline is May 9, 2025.

Benson Louie Scholarship Fund (Fall 25/26)

The Benson Louie Scholarship Fund is heading into its sixth year! We have the good fortune to raise our scholarship amount this year, offering up to $6,000 per student for Fall 2025. 

Please let your athletes know that this NOT an academic or athletic scholarship. Recipients will be those who best represent Benson’s attributes of:
  • PASSION
  • PERSISTENCE
  • LEADERSHIP
  • GENEROSITY

Recipients are not required to play college volleyball. There are no GPA or income limits for applicants. The application process opens on April 1st. Please direct your athletes to www.bensonstrong.com
