MANDATORY CONCUSSION RECOGNITION, SUDDEN CARDIAC ARREST, AND HEAT ILLNESS TRAINING FOR ALL COACHES
The State CIF has mandated Concussion Recognition and Care training, Sudden Cardiac Arrest training, and Heat Illness Prevention for ALL high school coaches in California. Certification for Concussion Recognition and Care can be obtained by completing the NFHS Concussion Certification Course or the CDC Heads Up Concussion Certification and must be updated every two years concurrent with the expiration of First Aid certification. Certification for Sudden Cardiac Arrest can be obtained by completing either of these three on-line courses: NFHS Sudden Cardiac Arrest or ProProfs SCA Prevention and must be updated every two years concurrent with earliest expiration of their First Aid certification. Certification for Heat Illness Prevention can be obtained by completing the NFHS Heat Illness Prevention Course and must be updated every two years concurrent with earliest expiration of their First Aid certification.
MANDATORY FOOTBALL COACHES SAFETY COURSES
All CIF San Francisco Section Football coaches are required to complete the USA Football Blocking and Defeating Blocks, Shoulder Tackling, and Equipment Fitting Course and the NFHS Heat Illness Prevention Course every two years. Check the links for each course above to sign up and complete the courses.
MANDATORY SPIRIT SQUAD SAFETY CERTIFICATION COURSE
The SF Section has mandated Spirit Safety training for ALL Spirit Squad coaches. Certification can be obtained by completing the NFHS AACCA Spirit Safety Certification course. Check this link to sign up and complete the course.
SPIRIT COACH COPYRIGHT AND COMPLIANCE COURSE
The NFHS is now providing a free Understanding Copyright and Compliance course for Spirit Coaches who wish to use copyrighted music during their performances. This course will help coaches understand how to legally use and pay for recorded songs. Check this link to access the course.
SWIMMING COACH CERTIFICATION COURSES
All Swimming coaches are required to posses either Lifeguard certification or Swim Coaches Safety training certification. Check these links for access to Red Cross lifeguard and safety training courses.
